Houston, Texas ~ December 2008 I had heard about this "Lights in the Heights" festival, but in all those years in Houston - had never been. That changed - gathered up a friend and the Nikon- and off we went. With only a single flask, we were woefully unprepared for the street party that is Lights in the Heights. Next year will bring better preparation- most likely a little red wagon with a cooler in it or better yet- some friends that live on the parade route........ | ||||

Front Sight, Nevada In 2008, I traveled the world. In March 2009, I traveled to Front Sight Firearms Resort - the only place in the world where private citizens can gain better firearms skills than most law enforcement professionals have. I have been shooting things for around 26 years; I consider myself a decent shot and pretty knowledgeable on firearms handling. Front Sight improved my pistol skills from novice to pretty damn good in just 5 days. Can you draw from a concealed carry and deliver a controlled pair in under 1.8 seconds? | ||||

Damon, Texas ~ February 2009 Down south of Houston, the local bar, West of the Brazos, sponsors an annual charity BBQ cook-off for the little league. I think they raised around $13k this year. Mr. TJ has a cooking team - this is an afternoon in pictures. They won 1st place in the Ribs category. | ||||
